Week 1: From Product Owner to Product Leader
Lay the foundation in yourself: product leadership doesn't begin with the backlog, but with stance and judgment. You sharpen what sets you apart from pure product ownership and choose your product case for the whole program.
Learning outcomes: You will be able to
distinguish your role as a product leader from pure product ownership and ground leadership in clarity rather than position
use the Product Leaders Compass as a self-diagnostic and derive two development priorities
decide under uncertainty, recognize cognitive biases, and use AI as a verified thinking partner

CC1 · Discovery
Week 2: Discovery
Requirements rarely arrive clearly — they arrive contradictory, politically charged, and disguised as supposed solutions. You learn to see the real user and business needs behind demands and to frame robust opportunities from them.
Learning outcomes: You will be able to
recognize the real user and business needs behind stated wishes
order conflicting expectations and frame them as a robust opportunity without pre-empting the solution
model business value and scope an MVP as a learning vehicle
Results
Opportunity framing + first stakeholder sketch

Formulate a clear strategic direction from the problem space that gives the product orientation — clear enough for people to align to it, open enough not to pre-empt the solution.
Learning outcomes: You will be able to
formulate a clear strategic direction from the problem space
translate vision and intent into orientation people can align to
write a Product Intent Brief that guides decisions instead of echoing "management said"
All times are in CEST (UTC+02:00).
CC8 · Stakeholders
Week 4: Aligning Stakeholders
Make stakeholders visible, understand their drivers and constraints, and align them on a shared outcome. With clear intent you align people — without it you negotiate features.
Learning outcomes: You will be able to
make stakeholders visible along with their influence, interest, and stance
turn a request conversation into an outcome conversation (request → outcome)
communicate trade-offs honestly and align stakeholders on a shared outcome
Translate intent into actionable, AI-ready clarity: a specification that is complete, verifiable, and open where it should be — and a first AI prototype that makes gaps visible immediately.
Learning outcomes: You will be able to
write a complete, verifiable, and AI-ready specification for a central feature
systematically capture edge cases, non-goals, and non-functional requirements
generate a first AI prototype from the specification and make gaps visible

CC3 · + Verification
Week 6: Orchestrating & Verifying Delivery
Orchestrate delivery and verify results against the original intent. The deviations between spec and prototype become verification criteria — and the prototype gets sharpened.
Learning outcomes: You will be able to
orchestrate delivery and anchor quality as a discipline
formulate verification criteria that test the result against the intent
classify deviations between spec and prototype and sharpen the prototype deliberately
All times are in CEST (UTC+02:00).
CC4 · Flow & Value
Week 7: Steering Flow & Value
Steer prioritization, goals, and value: from output to measurable outcome and impact. You build a chain of effect, sort initiatives into Now/Next/Later, and make justified trade-offs along cost of delay.
Learning outcomes: You will be able to
prioritize features with a deliberate lens and cut them to the smallest verifiable slice
build a chain of effect from output through outcome to impact
decide with cost-of-delay reasoning and communicate value in terms each audience cares about

Week 8: Leading Laterally & Integration
Lead laterally without formal authority — and integrate the six artifacts into a coherent package. Does your package tell one story? Does the delivery approach steer toward the intent? This is where everything becomes presentation-ready.
Learning outcomes: You will be able to
lead laterally without formal authority and hold your stance under pressure
communicate in a solution-focused way and foster psychological safety
integrate the six artifacts into a coherent, presentation-ready package

You will learn how to turn ambiguous demands into clear product intent, connect user and business needs, define strong specifications, align stakeholders and guide delivery with confidence.
The program combines practical product skills with leadership development.
At the end of CPL-1®, in a capstone event participants present a complete Product Leadership Package: stakeholder map, product intent brief, specifications, verification criteria and a delivery approach that shows
how they create clarity and guide product work beyond backlog management — including an AI-generated prototype.
Move beyond backlog management and start owning your product end-to-end — creating clarity under pressure, driving real outcomes, and influencing teams without relying on formal authority.

What the upgrade means
You get full access to all of the above benefits of the CPL-1® program, including learning material, live online sessions, assignments, mentoring and coaching — same as regular enrollees.
You are required to complete the assignments and quizzes to earn the CPL-1® certification, just like everyone else. The only difference is the price and the fact that you can
skip the learning modules covered by your existing CSPO/PSPO certification, allowing you to immerse yourself in the new and more in-depth material to get the most out of the program.
How to get the discount
Use the button below to send us an email and attach a copy of your existing certificate (CSPO or PSPO 1) to confirm your eligibility. Please also provide your name and the email address you used originally
to register, in case you are writing from a different address. We will then provide you with a unique discount code to use during online registration. You can use the code for any upcoming cohort
of the CPL-1® program for both formats, the 8-week bootcamp or the 3-day live workshop. Please note that the code will have an expiration date by which you need to use it.
The training fee includes access to the CPL-1® learning journey, live sessions, online learning material, assignments, group mentoring and coaching sessions, certification review and the CPL-1® certificate after successful completion.
Handout and workbook as PDF (printed versions available on demand - shipping fees may apply)
3 months membership in the Product Leaders Community
1 month AI-Subscription (usually Claude-Pro, terms may vary)
Please note training materials are in English only, regardless of the training language.

CPL-1® is designed for Product Owners, Product Managers and aspiring Product Leaders who want to move beyond backlog management and develop stronger product leadership capabilities.
It is especially relevant for people who want to create product clarity, define strong specifications, align stakeholders and guide product work toward measurable outcomes.
There are no formal prerequisites for regular enrollment.
Basic experience in product ownership, product management, agile product development or working with product teams is helpful, but not required.
Before the live sessions, you will get access to preparatory online material. This helps create a shared foundation around agile product work, product ownership, Product Leadership and the core concepts used throughout the program.
After registration, you will receive access to the learning platform. There you will find the online courses, assignments, workbook material and all relevant information for your cohort.
CPL-1® is not based on a single final exam. To earn the certification, you need to participate in the program, complete the required assignments and quizzes, and successfully finish the final certification work.
In many cases, employers or public funding programs may support professional development. Funding opportunities vary depending on the country, state, and your personal circumstances. Please understand that we are unable to provide comprehensive information about the funding landscape in the various countries. Please contact your HR or L&D department to get further assistance.
If you cannot attend a session, please let us know as early as possible.
Depending on the format and cohort structure, we will help you catch up through learning materials, assignments or alternative support. For certification, participation and completion requirements still apply.
For live online participation, you will need a stable internet connection, a computer with a camera and microphone, and access to the tools used during the training. We recommend joining from a quiet location where you can actively participate in discussions, exercises, and group work.
From a technical perspective, we use Zoom and Miro. Your company may have restrictive policies regarding approved tools, websites, or protocols. Please check in advance whether the tools listed above are permitted in your work environment and function properly. If necessary, please explore alternative ways to participate, such as joining without a VPN or using a private computer.
Once you have registered as a training participant, you will receive comprehensive information to help you prepare, participate, and familiarize yourself with the tools. This will include technical instructions for checking your infrastructure in advance.
Cohort-based training means that you learn together with a group of participants over a defined period of time.
Instead of consuming content alone, you progress through the program together, apply the material to real product challenges, exchange experiences and receive support from trainers, mentors and peers.
Live-online means that the training takes place remotely, but in real time.
You join interactive sessions with trainers and other participants. The format includes teaching, discussion, exercises, group work, reflection and live support.
Yes. We limit the number of participants to ensure interaction, high-quality discussions and meaningful feedback. The exact number may vary by training type, format and cohort. For CPL-1 bootcamps it is 16 people.
CSPO® focuses on Scrum Product Ownership. CPL-1® goes far beyond:
CPL-1® is designed to help Product Owners grow into AI-native Product Leaders by developing capabilities around product intent, discovery, specifications, stakeholder alignment, delivery flow, verification and leadership without formal authority.
Product work is changing. AI can accelerate analysis, prototyping and delivery, but it does not replace product leadership. In fact, the faster teams can build, the more important clarity, judgment and verification become. CPL-1® helps Product Owners move beyond backlog management and develop the capabilities needed to create product intent, guide delivery and lead product work with confidence.
Yes. CPL-1® includes the changing role of Product Leaders in AI-supported product work.
The focus is not on tool training, but on the leadership capabilities needed to create clarity, use AI as a thinking partner, define stronger specifications and make better product decisions in faster-moving product environments.
