Spec-Driven Development for Product Leaders

Specifications are the new bottleneck. Master them.

AI coding agents can ship code in hours instead of weeks, but only when the specification is precise enough to guide them. This bootcamp teaches Product Leaders the craft of AI-ready specifications, living documentation and direct collaboration with coding agents like Claude Code and others.

Why this Bootcamp?

The way software gets built is changing fundamentally. AI coding agents now generate working software at a pace that exposes a new bottleneck: the clarity of the specification handed to them. This bootcamp closes the gap — it teaches the craft of turning intent into shipped software.

Who this is for

Product Owners and Product Managers whose engineering teams are adopting AI tools, tech founders who write specs for their team or for AI agents directly, and experienced Product Leaders who feel that their user story toolkit is no longer enough. A program built specifically for Product Leaders, not engineers.

The New Bottleneck

AI coding agents ship working software in hours instead of weeks — but only as well as the specification handed to them. Clarity, not coding capacity, is now the constraint.

Beyond User Stories

User stories and acceptance criteria — the bread and butter of Product Owners for two decades — are no longer enough. Learn the specification craft this new world demands.

Living Documentation

Write specifications that remain the authoritative source of truth over years of product evolution, with built-in drift detection.

Hands-On with AI Agents

Work directly with Claude Code, Cursor and other coding agents throughout the program: review their plans, detect drift, steer their work.

No Coding Required

Built for Product Leaders, not engineers. All tools are introduced from zero — no prior coding experience needed, but you'll work with real AI coding agents throughout.

Coaching & Capstone

1:1 coaching, facilitated group reviews and one real feature case as the red thread — culminating in your capstone presentation in week 6.

Complementary to CPL-1®

This program complements our Certified Product Leader Level 1 bootcamp — it doesn't replace it. Where CPL-1® goes broad, this program goes deep into a single dimension: the craft of specification itself.

Take it before or after CPL-1®. As CPL-1® alumni or when purchasing a combination, you get a special rate.

Learning outcomes

Leading AI-integrated workflows

Spec-Driven Development for Product Leaders is a guided journey that builds deep specification craft. After successful completion of this bootcamp, you will be able to:

  • write AI-ready specifications that coding agents implement directly
  • close the eight typical spec gaps that cause AI misinterpretation
  • structure acceptance criteria with stable, test-linked IDs
  • generate clickable UI mockups and diagrams with AI
  • set up living documentation with built-in drift detection
  • review, steer and correct AI coding agents like Claude Code and Cursor
  • lead spec-driven development adoption in your organization
  • evaluate and combine multiple AI agents for your workflow

Beyond Backlog Management

Backlog management was the toolkit of the previous decade. In an AI-integrated world, the new toolkit is specification craft, living documentation, and direct collaboration with coding agents. This bootcamp gives you that toolkit at a depth that distinguishes you from Product Owners who are still optimizing user stories.

Stand Out with Specification Craft

Most Product Owners are still figuring out what AI integration means for their role. By completing this program, you become one of the people who can confidently lead specification practice in your organization — and become the person engineering and leadership turn to when AI-integrated delivery needs to actually work.

Before

You hand user stories to the team and hope the result matches what you meant.

After

You write AI-ready specifications that produce the result you actually intended — the first time.

Before

AI coding agents interpret vague requirements, and drift goes unnoticed until review.

After

You review agent plans, detect drift early, and steer their work before code ships.

Before

Documentation is written once, then quietly rots in Confluence.

After

Your specs are living documentation — the authoritative source of truth, with built-in drift detection.

Before

Mockups and wireframes wait on UX design or engineering capacity.

After

You generate clickable mockups and diagrams with AI yourself, without writing HTML or code.

Before

Acceptance criteria are vague, live in tickets and vanish after the sprint.

After

Your acceptance criteria carry stable IDs, link to tests, and survive years of product evolution.

Before

"Spec-driven development" is something engineers talk about.

After

You lead its adoption in your organization — including legacy Confluence/Jira environments.

By the end of this bootcamp, you haven't just understood spec-driven development — you've practiced it on a real feature case and presented your working specification practice in the capstone.

The New Specification Reality

Lay the foundation: understand why specifications have become the bottleneck of AI-integrated product work — and experience firsthand how an AI coding agent interprets, and misinterprets, the way you specify today. You set up your AI workstation and choose your feature case for the whole program.

Learning outcomes: You will be able to

  • explain why user stories and acceptance criteria are no longer sufficient when AI agents build the software
  • identify the eight gap categories where specifications leave room for AI misinterpretation
  • work hands-on with an AI coding agent on your own machine
  • treat a spec as a contract — the artifact that stands in for you when you are not in the room

Results

Working AI workstation + chosen feature case + gap analysis of one of your own user stories

Tools You'll Work With

The program uses Claude Code as the primary AI coding agent (~80% of hands-on work), with dedicated sessions comparing Cursor, Gemini and other agents so you leave with informed judgment about the broader tooling landscape. All tools are introduced from zero — no prior experience required. Account access and setup is part of week 0.
